Nostalgia

In my sleepy little suburb there's a shop that has been around since "Pa fell off the bus" (as my gran would have said). It's your run of the mill "grandma" shop and has a sale a few times a year that sees the nursing homes busing in its residents to stock up on comfy shoes, socks and the like. With my natural affinity to granny-chic, I was there like a bear and have the comfy shoes to prove it. I also picked up two pretty, floral dresses for a steal at R50 each.

Diana Mini Snaps

I think it's safe to say I addicted to analogue photography. The Boyfriend too. In fact, he's bought the sum total of five film cameras while I'm still sitting at two. I thought I'd just share a few of the good snaps I've managed to capture with my Diana Mini. My favourite part of this is how unexpected things turn out, and when you look closely at some pictures you find little secrets (especially when the film didn't roll on properly or you took an accidental multiple exposure).

Bows and Books

This shirt pretty much sums up the key to happiness in my opinion. It's another gem from the Amber Jones/Mr Price collaboration. I feel every inch of the librarian I am while wearing it. Speaking of books, I'm reading a very enchanting one at the moment. It's called A Discovery of Witches. Are you reading anything captivating at the moment?

P.S. The very lovely Kerry from GuessWhatGirls had me over on her Friends' Favourite series. Go check it out here.

Paris vs New York

Aren't these comparative illustrations between Paris and New York by graphic Vahram Muratyan wonderful? I'm getting lost in them. See more here at Vahram's blog.

The Books Come Out To Play

Ever wondered what happens in a bookstore at night? This video may just answer your questions. This beautiful stop motion video was made by Type bookstore in Toronto. There is too much of lovely about this video!

Roses Are Red

Cherry pancakes and rose picking. My idea of a perfect Friday morning. Boyfriend and I went to Chart Farm in Wynberg on our last day of holidays. I adore going there. It's super peaceful and super pretty and the little farm stall that sells fresh produce gets me excited every time. The variety of roses grown there astounds me too. I decided to pick ones with yellow hues in them this time. I'm officially back at work and already mourning the holiday that was. At least I only have 76 sleeps until my trip to England!

Midnight in Paris

I don't think there was ever a chance I would'nt fall in love with this film. You can never go wrong with an offbeat romantic comedy set in Paris. Went to watch it last night and left with that awesome feeling you occasionally get from watching movies that just transport you somewhere magical for an hour and a bit. Read more about the plot here.

For Auld Lang Syne, My Dear

The Boyfriend and I opted to have a super chilled New Years Eve, and it was fantastic. We had a delicious, three course dinner at Seaforth and then came home to sit under a blanket on the patio, listening to the sounds of people celebrating in the neighbourhood whilst drinking champagne. We dressed up a bit too, just for the heck of it. I hope you all had a wonderful celebration to ring in this New Year and I wish you many blessings for the year ahead.

2012 Style Resolutions

Another year is here and I thought instead of doing the traditional resolution list, (which we all know I won't adhere to) I'd put together some style resolutions that I just may have a chance of keeping up with in 2012.
1. Accessorise, accessorise, accessorise
I usually get ready in such a rush that I completely forget to put any trinkets or frills on. This year, I'd like to add more accessories to my closet, and pair them successfully with outfits.
2. Shop Savvy
This year I'll be thinking of at least five different ways I can wear something before I buy it. I'm tired of having a closet full of clothes and nothing to wear because I make snap decisions while shopping and often go home with things I eventually dislike or can only wear one way.
3. Organise, organise, organise
This year, I will have a neat wardrobe. I will not have piles of clean laundry sitting on every available surface in my bedroom or spare room. I will fold everything and put it back where it belongs! This being said, I'm issuing everyone who reads this with an open invitation to drop in and do spot wardrobe checks to ensure I'm keeping this promise. Also, I'll be referring to these helpful hints when I do my big closet spring clean.
4. Hair concerns
Yes, I'm blessed with straight hair, no that doesn't mean I must just wash 'n go everyday. I'd like wear my hair a bit differently more than occasionally this year.
5. What Would Zooey Wear?
It's no secret I have a girl crush on Zooey Deschanel. She's my style icon. I'd love to steal some of that eclectic, girly chic that she has going on.
